A White Armoire - A Great Idea to Hide Your Mess

The word armoire is French for wardrobe, which is basically a standing closet used for storing clothes. The armoire was invented to replace traditional chests and has quickly become a piece of furniture present in every household. Armoires are available in a variety of styles and colors and finding the right one is often a tricky task. A white armoire is a good option as it adds a touch of class to the room without turning into an eyesore.

The Stork Craft Beatrice Armoire Chest in White is one such white armoire. It is made from solid wood and is completely non toxic in its finish. This finish also adds durability to the wood which is otherwise susceptible to moisture etc. It is easily assembled using a unique cam lock construction. The cabinet comes with 3 wooden shelves placed to utilize as much space available as possible.

The drawers are smooth and work like a charm because they have steel drawer glides with safety top. The adjustable hinges on the cupboard doors ensure that they shut perfectly every time, and round wooden pulls make opening and closing the doors very simple.

The Sorelle Vista Armoire is a high end white armoire crafted completely from solid pine which more than justifies the large price tag. The upper half of the armoire comes with 2 adjustable shelves which add great versatility. This part can be either used as a conventional storage space or for your TV as well. The lower part of the armoire has 3 full size drawers whose working is flawless thanks to the Euro Glide drawer glides installed. Four bun feet provide complete stability and make the Sorelle Vista Armoire the perfect option for either the children's bedroom or the master bedroom.

Another white armoire intended only for use as an entertainment centre for your TV is the Antique White Shutter Door TV Entertainment Centre Armoire. This product comes with a large shelf (almost 37" high by 39" wide) which can accommodate most television sets. The TVs can be concealed using the lovely shuttered doors which add something different to this armoire as compared to most other ones.

The lower part of the armoire consists of two adjustable shelves concealed behind drawer fronts which can hold either 36 VHS tapes, 176 CDs or 68 DVDs, ample storage space for your movie collection. The whole thing is finished in an antique white finish, and the shutter doors can be folded back against the side panels making this unit both compact in shape and classic in design at the same time.

Another type of armoire is the Jewelry Armoire in Off While which is a traditional design, perfect for the old fashioned Victorian bedroom. This white armoire is perfect for storing jewelry as it comes with several small drawers, two shelves on the side, and one on the top. It is beautifully finished with a hand painted floral design catching the eye.

These are some of the many armoires available on the market, a must have piece of furniture for everyone.

Office Desks and Workstations

Shopping for office furniture can be a daunting task. Whether you are shopping for a home office or for your place of business there are several factors to consider such as how much space you have to work with, what type of equipment you need to accommodate and what kind of look you are going for. Below is a basic overview of some of your choices.

Computer Armoires and Hutches

A Computer armoire is the way to go to keep a home office concealed and tidy. Computer armoires come in a variety of sizes and which one to pick will depend mainly on how much room you have as well as how big your computer is. Do not make the mistake of not measuring your space! Armoires come in a variety of sizes ranging from 40 - 60 inches wide and 58 - 78 inches tall (if not taller). This is a great option if you do not have an extra room for an office.

They come in beautiful, elegant woods that may fit into your home perfectly, when you are done with your work just shut the doors and it looks like an attractive wardrobe. A computer hutch is very similar to an armoire, once again these are probably best for a home office. They really can go anywhere that you have room. The main difference is that a hutch will not have doors similar to a wardrobe. It has high shelves for storage and should fit any size computer.

Computer Workstations

These are ideal for either small spaces or businesses where a computer or other equipment must be mobile. Generally these are best if you don't have many other miscellaneous office supplies that you need to work with. You can find ones that hold a desktop computer with the tower down below, by your feet, or a laptop with a printer. That is pretty much the extent of the home office use. These are commonly used in hospitals and doctors offices as they sometimes have wheels. If you run any type of business where one computer should be mobile this is an ideal option.

Credenzas

Credenzas are long pieces of furniture which will usually have file storage space. This can be a stylish choice for a large home office or business office. They can be very simple without drawers but ample desktop space, or fancy with a more ornamental look. As mentioned before since they are pretty elongated it is imperative that you take your space measurements before choosing the perfect credenza.

Desks

Of course an old fashioned desk may be the way to go. Just make sure that if you are working with a desktop computer that your desk has a pullout shelf for the keyboard. This of course isn't really necessary if you are working with a laptop however, it may be perfect for computer storage. You may prefer a corner desk which will give you ample space for the computer and its components such as the printer, scanner or whatever else you may have.

Hopefully after reading this you have narrowed down your options if not singled one out. Just remember to take certain factors into consideration such as whether or not your computer has a tower or if you would like file storage space before you just purchase the best looking piece of furniture on the sales floor.

How to Assess and Select Discount Computer Desks

Selecting the best discount computer desks shouldn't be troublesome! Taking a bit of time to correctly assess your requirements will assure that you get the desk that best suits your home computing needs and also your budget.

Check Your Hardware

Write down all the hardware you own. Include equipment that you currently own, and any you might be planning to buy in the near future... you will likely either replace equipment or get new stuff, and you need to plan your desk area in order to accommodate that.

Now figure out what hardware you need in arm's reach, and which you can tuck away. Your router, for example, could be placed on a shelf higher up...but you'll need easy access to your printer. Also be aware of how much cord storage you want, and where the main outlets are.

If you want to hide certain things, an armoire desk could be a good choice for you. Or, think about a desk that includes a storage rack underneath for holding small gadgets, like modems and drives, or attached shelving to store peripherals.

Check Your Software

What else do you need in your computing area? Consider anything that is not equipment as software program for desk-planning purposes. Pens and other supplies, manuals, video games, disks...anything you use on or at your computer desk should be written down.

Now group all of this stuff in line with how often you will typically want to use them. Things that you need on a regular basis, say printer paper, paper clips and staples, should be kept within simple reach. Things that you need less often can go in drawers, on shelves or in cabinets. Now that you know how much you need to store, and where you need it, you'll have a better idea of what sort of features your desk needs to have.

Don't Neglect Ergonomics

Now that you have a better idea about your discount computer desks size and set-up, you should think about ergonomics. A lot of us spend an inordinate amount of time at our desks, both at work and at home. Your desk needs to be as ergonomic as possible so that those using the desk don't suffer from any strain or injury.

If several people will be utilizing the computer desk, think about adding adjustable options. Keyboard trays and mouse decks move and tilt in keeping with the size and height of the user and prevent arm and wrist strain. Monitor shelves are an easy method to be sure that everyone utilizing the PC can alter the angle and height of the monitor to suit their needs and prevent neck strain.

Amoires - Elegant & Practical Storage Solutions For The Home

Armoires are quality items of furniture that look great and provide useful storage for things you don't want on permanent display, from home entertainment systems to computer equipment. An armoire is ideal for maintaining a tidy appearance in your home, and as they come is all kinds of styles, sizes and finishes you're sure to fine one that blends in perfectly with your existing furniture and décor.

A TV armoire can have an impressive impact on the look and feel of a family room, allowing you to simply shut the doors to conceal your television, DVD player and other home entertainment accessories. Many people feel that their assortment of electrical gadgets dominates the room and is an unsightly focal point, in which case an armoire is the perfect solution. With wraparound doors that sit flush with the sides, armoires don't obstruct viewing, but do enable you to discreetly disguise your media equipment when it's not in use.

A computer armoire works in the same way, combining handsome good looks with function. The armoire doors open up to reveal a variety of specially-designed compartments and shelving for a CPU, monitor, printer and other accessories. A real advantage of an armoire is that you can close the doors on your clutter and escape from your work. Concealing your home computer in an armoire can instantly transform a room, and is particularly effective if your computer is tucked into a corner of a dining room or guest room that isn't a dedicated study or home office.

Wardrobe armoires are another version of this clever design and come with a combination of storage options such as clothing rails, shelves and drawers. They are great for extra closet space or in a child's room for storing toys and general clutter. A jewelry armoire is a miniature interpretation of the armoire design and is a well laid out place for keeping all types of jewelry safe and organized.

If your home is in need of a makeover, then an armoire can both add a touch of class to your home's image and provide somewhere to hide your clutter!

Ideas For Bedroom Furniture

Pieces in your bedroom should reflect your style as well as serving your needs of functionality. Fortunately, manufacturers will offer a diversity of options on each piece. Below we will look at some popular pieces of bedroom furniture, as well as the different options available.

Beds

Bed frames and mattresses come in a variety of sizes to fit every need. They include:

Twin (39" wide x 75" long) typically seen in bunk beds
Full (54" wide x 75" long) Bit larger than a twin
Queen (60" wide x 80" long) Good for small spaces where you need a bigger bed
Cal. King (72" wide x 84" long) the largest
Eastern King (76" wide x 80" long) Regular king size

The choice of your bed should be made according to your size and whether or not you will sleep in it alone. Of course, the size of your bedroom is also a factor, as you will want to be able to get around the edges of the bed for cleaning purposes and to access closet doors and such. Children's beds are commonly twin size, they are very versatile and space can be maximized by choosing bunk beds or trundles. A trundle is a bed within a bed, the trundle slides under the main bed and is perfect for sleepover parties. Daybeds are another space saving design, combining a regular bed into a couch like format. Three sides of the bed wrap around like a couch and lining the back and sides with pillows gives you a comfortable place to sit and read during the day.

The traditional bed comes fully equipped with a tall headboard and low footboard. A platform bed on the other hand offers a lower profile choice. This popular choice in Europe and Asia has recently found a following in the America. The bed is lower to the ground, which makes it cooler at night, plus you can add drawers underneath for more storage.

While full beds are, a full 15" wider than a twin is when two people try to share the space it is more cramped than if each had a twin. Unbelievably, a queen does not offer more room than a twin if two people are sharing it. The best size for a shared bed is a king size, this will give each person a lot more room; however, the beds themselves are quite large and may not fit into all rooms.

Night Stands

Everyone likes a nightstand by the bed and the variety of sizes and designs reflect this. Many offer doors, drawers, or a combination of the two. The choice will ultimately fall to your personal choice and the feature that will be most useful to you. Watch that you get a table of the correct height; it should be equal to the height of your bed.

Armoires

When it comes to armoires, there are many choices outside of what you may think of as traditional. Early armoires contained a hanging rod behind hinged double doors with drawers below. Today however armoires double as entertainment centers. This lets you put your television behind closed doors when not in use. These pieces have roll up or slide in doors that hide away while you watch television. Below may be drawers or doors for more storage, you can also find these units made for computers, with a sliding keyboard platform and a built in surge protector. Regardless of the type you need these pieces of furniture are also quite large so you will have to balance needs with available space.

Dressers and Chests

Dressers and chest of drawers are basically used for the same purpose. A dresser will be wider with drawers that are lined up horizontally, while a chest will be taller and line the drawers vertically. Which to use will be mostly personal preference however once again space may play a key role. Another choice is the mule chest; this is an oversized dresser and often has different storage options along with drawers. Chests are typically a single column of drawers stacked on one another. Though even these have a variety of styles, a man's chest may have drawers combined with shelves behind double doors.

These pieces will be larger than a standard chest. Sweater chests are another variation and will have large shelves that are just right for storing sweaters. For the ladies there are lingerie chests, these are normally thinner than a regular chest while still containing a column of drawers. Overall, the choice in chests or dressers is dependent on its use. If you have many large items to store, there you will want deep drawers that you do not have to over stuff. Packing them to tightly and forcing them shut will lead to a break down in the unit.

Mirrors

Mirrors are as varied as the other pieces mentioned above. You can have them attached to your dresser or hang them on the wall. Some manufacturers even offer the option of a tri mirror, which is attached to your dresser, and have adjustable hinged mirrors perfect for applying make up. Lastly, there are also freestanding mirrors that leave you the convenience of moving them as necessary, and they are great for checking your overall appearance.

Tips To Finding The Best Computer Desks For Sale

With the advancement in technology, many of us now cannot live without a computer, be a laptop or a desktop. However, our task does not stop at purchasing the computers. We will also need to place or store these laptops or desktops somewhere and it also has to be solid enough to take the weight. As such, it is necessary for us to learn some tips when we are looking for the best computer desks for sale.

When you do a search either online or offline, you will discover that there are many different kinds of computer desks for sale but the majority is made of wood. Hardwood is of course better than other kinds of wood. You can also find the ergonomic computer table, which is a modern design, as it works like an adjustable drawing desk. You can maximize personal comfort as you can adjust the elements' placement so as to suit your needs.

Although it is built to be the companion of an ergonomic chair, you can also adjust the desk level, depending on whether you prefer to sit or stand as you work on your computer. This ergonomic computer desk is suitable for someone who is looking for an inexpensive, easy to maneuver and simply designed computer table. However, you will also have to accept that it does not provide you with the additional functions, storage space or stability that the standard computer tables are able to provide you with.

Another common kind of computer desks for sale that you will likely find when you carry out your search is the standard wooden computer table. These are more commonly purchased for home use than for office use because of their designs. As it is made of wood, it matches well with the rest of the furniture in the house. In addition, the typical armoire computer table allows space for the mouse, monitor, printer, keyboard, speakers as well as additional files that you may be working with.

Besides providing ample space, there are also pre-made holes at the back of the tables for the wires, plugs and cables. In general, these tables are long-lasting, elegant looking and offer great functionality. However, it does not mean that there is no downside to these desks. The disadvantages are that you will need more space for these computer desks and they will also cost more. Nevertheless, if you weigh the pros and cons, you will find that you can still get a lot of benefits out of it so these are the preferred computer desks for sale.

In general, when you compare the two kinds of computer tables, the standard wooden desks are also more durable than the ergonomic ones and they are also varnished, assembled upon purchase as well as having a warranty. However, when you are searching for computer desks for sale, consider your personal needs, budget and what kind of functionality are you looking for before you decide on which to purchase. It should also fit in well with the rest of the furniture in your office or home, so do not rush into things.

How to Furnish Your Home

Tips for Furnishing Your Home Intelligently

This article will take you through a step-by-step process of choosing your decor and choosing and buying your furniture to place in your home and how to make your furniture work with the decor.

Furnishing your home can be a daunting task. Many people like to have an interior design plan and like to have furniture that fits the decor of their home's interior. Before buying furniture, you might want to do some research, go to furniture stores and do some window shopping first.

You can do all kinds of different things and use certain objects to mix with real furniture pieces to have an interesting design. Some of you probably like the antique look or like to mix antique pieces of furniture with modern furnishings.

Color

Color is very important in choosing the right furniture for your home. The best colors that work for your home and home furnishings are complementary colors. Complimentary colors work the best because these colors provide sharp contrast and make the entire room more appealing to the eye.

Complimentary colors are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. As a rule, all complimentary colors make brown when mixed together. Some good color combinations that work together are listed below.

1. Blue and orange is a pair of complimentary colors that work great together. For those of you who like sharp contrasts and bright colors, you can paint your rooms with shades of blue and have furniture that has orange upholstery. Also add orange window dressings. Furthermore, this color combination can involve different combinations of shades, tints and hues of blue and orange.

For example, if you have bluestone tile in your foyer, use terra cotta grout with the tile. Paint the walls an earthy orange, or you can also paint your walls a bittersweet or terra cotta color to compliment the bluestone tile floor. The ceiling can then be a light day glow color, which is more a yellow-orange color.

For the furniture that is to go into the foyer, you have plenty of options. You can have a nice armoire with a bench that is made of oak or cherry with a stain that brings out the reds and oranges in the wood.

You can also have an armoire for your coats and shoes painted a nice royal blue and a matching bench to sit on when putting on your shoes that is painted a royal blue with bright orange cushions. Other ideas for other rooms that would work well with the blue and orange can be your kitchen, bathroom, or living and dining rooms.

2. Purple and yellow is a color combination that works great for your formal dining room. For example, if you have the dining room painted maize yellow, you should look for window dressings a deep burgundy color. As far as furniture is concerned for such a color combination, wood that is very dark works the best.

If you cannot find the properly stained dining room set for your dining room that is of this color combination, buy unfinished furniture and do the finishing yourself. If you choose to go this route, choose a stain that makes the furniture look dark. A very good stain is a merlot color. Merlot might make the wood look too red if it is a light-colored wood.

Before staining your unfinished dining set, ask the furniture store where you bought the set for a scrap piece of wood that is the same wood that the dining set is made from. Use this piece of wood to test certain stains to get the desired color. For example, if your furniture is made from aspen, which is very light in color, a combination of stains would be needed to get the desired color.

The best combination of stains for an aspen dining set for a room that has maize yellow walls and burgundy window dressings is a mixture of red oak, merlot, and walnut. These three stains can give the furniture a beautiful dark purple-reddish color. The color is enhanced if you use a high-gloss spar urethane varnish.

Spar urethane is actually a varnish that is used outside and even on wooden boats, but it is very durable and lasts a long time. Table cloths should be a burgundy color or another shade of a reddish purple and gold threaded embroidery. Napkins should be of a yellow or golden color.

3. Red and green can usually be associated with Christmas, but this makes a nice color combination also. The Chinese use red and green all the time in their traditional design. For those of you who like the oriental style, this color combination is a must. Reds and greens also work well with dining rooms and living rooms.

Positioning your furniture

Positioning your furniture is also very important. You want the furniture to be in flow with the room. Try not to have divans block or divide the room. Divans work the best when they are against the wall.

In the more open areas of the rooms should be mostly kept open, however, some seats can also be positioned in the open areas, but closer to the walls or where other pieces of furniture are, such as tables and snack stands. The proper way to furnish each room and how to position the different pieces of furniture in each room is as follows:

1. The bedrooms can be one of the most difficult rooms to furnish. Beds and their components such as mattresses, head boards and spring boxes are often cumbersome and difficult to handle. Furthermore, they take more that one person to move and position in place in most cases.

The beds should be placed more towards the center of the room with the head board up against the wall. Do not place the head board up against a window if the window is lower than the height of the head board. Night stands should be placed on either side of the bed at the head board end.

The purpose of a nightstand is to have things that you need for the night, therefore it would make perfect sense to have them at your hand's reach. Dressers and mirrors should also be positioned against the wall where there is no window. Bed spreads should be color coordinated with the color of the paint or wall paper in the bedroom.

2. The formal dining room is a bit easier to position the furniture than the bedrooms. The formal dining room is the room where special meals are eaten, during holidays and other special occasions. This room is not intended to eat in on a daily basis. That is done in the kitchen dinette usually.

In furnishing the formal dining room, you should first place the table and the chairs. The dining room table and matching chairs is best positioned in the middle of the room. Other pieces of furniture that go into the dining room include hutches and possibly some sort of sound system for entertaining. Hutches should be placed against a solid wall.

You can also get corner hutches that fit nicely into a corner of the dining room. Likewise if you choose to have a stereo in the dining room, you need a stereo cabinet that houses the stereo system and some shelves to store CDs.

With today's technology, however, that can also be obsolete because you can get sound systems that you can plug your iPod or other portable music players into. These sound systems should be concealed in a nice cabinet that matches the rest of the furniture in the dining room. Speakers should be installed in inconspicuous areas in the room yet be the least visible as possible.

3. The living and family rooms are complex rooms in the house where the most action in the home takes place. The family or living room is a room that is designed to be for the whole family. This is the room that has the TV set and other things for the family to be entertained.

Usually the TV sets of today are large plasma screen TV sets and are incorporated with other components of a home entertainment system. The Plasma screen TV should be either affixed to a special entertainment center cabinet or you can also get plasma screen TVs that can be hung from the wall.

The wall mounted plasma TVs often need to be hard-wired into the house's electrical systems, though now you can get some TV sets that can be connected wirelessly to the satellite box, DVD players and DVRs as well as the sound system.

If your TV and entertainment system comes with surround sound, the small speakers need to be positioned in various places of the room where the best sound effect would come from. The woofer should be in part of the entertainment system cabinet but should not be covered.

The entertainment system cabinet should be placed against a windowless wall that everyone in the room can comfortably face, especially if the TV is incorporated in the cabinet. Divans and love seats should also be placed against walls. Coffee tables should be placed in front of the divan.

Armchairs can be placed in open places but out of the way of daily traffic. Most armchairs are recliners, so the wall might prevent the armchair to function properly. Therefore armchairs are best in open places. Shelves and bookcases should also be placed against the walls.

4. The home office is usually one of the easiest rooms to furnish. The home office usually consists of a computer desk or regular desk, a seat at the desk, shelves and bookcases and file cabinets. The computer desk is a rather large piece of furniture.

Most computer desks are designed to serve as both, a regular desk, where you have a place to write notes or letters by hand and a place for all the components for your desktop computer. Usually the typical computer desk has a cubby hole for your computer's monitor and at the bottom a cabinet for the tower case of your computer.

Your computer's keyboard and mouse are usually placed on a flat surface that slides in and out like a drawer. Your computer desk might also have other cabinets that are above the computer's monitor to store disks and other computer or work related items.

This piece of furniture should be placed against a wall. If the seat that comes with the computer desk is a swivel seat with wheels, you should have a special mat for that seat, especially if the floor in your home office is carpeted.

For those of you who have laptop computers instead of desktop computers, a regular desk should be sufficient. Shelves and bookcases should also be placed against walls and out of the way.

There are many different ways to furnish your home. If you really want to be wild and eccentric, there are many different websites that show unique ways on how to furnish your home.

Furnishing your home with boxes can be a unique way to furnish your home and can also give your home an interesting style. One website even shows how you can furnish your house with FedEx boxes. You can even build beds, divans, and even computer desks for as cheap as three to five dollars per box. This can sure beat spending thousands of dollars on expensive furniture.

Though having look like a FedEx box may look off the wall or "poor," you can also be more creative. These boxes can also be painted. If you are the artistic type and do not have much money, you can take packaging and moving boxes, which are made from strong enough cardboard that can hold computers.

You can even find paints that can give the boxes a waterproof coating and keep the cardboard from deteriorating when you spill a drink on your cardboard furniture.

There are many different ways you can furnish your home. Every person and every family is different and has a different style. This article provides you with some of the basics on furnishing your home. The above paragraph is just one example of how innovation can come up with unique money-saving ideas to furnish your home on a low budget.

Some of you, however, like to spend money and like to have furniture that looks sharp and tasteful. What ever your financial situation is, there is a way out there that you can find to both furnish your home and make it your home sweet home.

Home Office Design Made Easy

Designing a home office is easy for some people, while others find the process daunting. Whether you want to set up a new home office or redesign an existing office, there are several ways to select the right furniture, provide enough storage space and create a home office design that meets your needs and work style.

Setting up a home office doesn't have to be difficult or overwhelming. By planning ahead, selecting the ideal space and finding the right furniture, you can make the process easier.

Ask yourself some important questions

The first step in home office design is to make sure you carefully evaluate every room and ask yourself a few questions:

Will you actually work in this area?
Will distractions be kept to a minimum?
Is there ample lighting?
Is there enough room for all of your equipment, files, and supplies?
Are there enough electrical outlets?
Would it be difficult to run a phone line and Internet access into this space?

By answering these questions, you will identify the best space for a home office.

Functional home office furniture should fit home décor

Invest in functional office furniture that fits the décor of your home. Whether you want a simple writing desk with a lap drawer for supplies, or a large desk with drawers for supplies and files, determine whether the piece is functional, and whether it matches your décor. When purchasing home office furniture, look for an ergonomically correct desk and chair as well as a bookcase to store reference and business books.

If you have limited home office space, or you need to "close up shop" at the end of the day, a computer cabinet or a computer armoire with enough space to house your office equipment is ideal. Plan ahead by measuring your space before you buy any new office furniture, making sure it will fit through a doorway or stairway.

What type of desk arrangement works best for you?

Choosing a desk arrangement that best suits you is an important part of the home office design process. Decide which of the five basic desk furniture arrangements for your home office is best for you: L-shape, Parallel, U-shape, corner, or reverse corner arrangement. The L-shaped work area allows you to store equipment off your desk and move it onto a secondary surface; the U-shaped work area makes it simple to keep everything within reach on three surfaces; the parallel layout positions your desk facing into the room with your secondary surface behind you; the corner arrangement and reverse corner arrangement include a desk with returns on each side. The desk faces into the corner or out into the room.

File storage can be beautiful

Be creative with file storage. Instead of using a grey, metal file cabinet to store your files, find other alternatives. You could store files inside a decorative wooden trunk, within a piece of furniture that is disguised as a storage chest, or inside a storage ottoman with a lid that doubles as a seat. Set up an easy-to-use filing system using hanging folders for main categories with interior (they're cut lower than manila) folders inside. Lateral file cabinets like those offered by Hooker Furniture are designed so well, no one would even know they are a file cabinet. A Preston Ridge file cabinet, for instance, would look lovely in a living room, hall or beside a bed.

Save space within your home office by using multifunction or "all in one" equipment that faxes, prints, copies and scans documents in color. The smaller footprint (and often low price) of these machines makes them ideal for most space-challenged home offices. Keep storage space on your computer to a minimum by storing information online through a virtual filing system, and eliminate the need for a special photo printer by using an online photo processing service.

Design your home office to reflect your taste, interests and style. If your office isn't carpeted, add an area rug to reduce echo. For privacy and to minimize the effects of direct sunlight, add window treatments. Don't forget to provide enough light for your desk and overall office.

Planning for client meetings

If you are going to meet with clients in your office, set up a space within your home office complete with guest chairs and a meeting table to spread out paperwork. If the kitchen is not nearby, set up a small break area with a coffee maker, dishes, utensils, and if possible a small refrigerator.

4 Things to Consider Before Purchasing a New Computer Desk

Choosing the right computer desks is more difficult than what was originally perceived. Although they can be found in furniture shops, newspapers ads, second hand stores and online; the challenge comes in the selection. Decisions ranging from the material to the design need to be made.

The following are the commonest types of desk you need to make a decision from:

• Armoire desks are the simplest desks that focus on the correct placement of your keyboard, monitor, speaker, printer, and mouse.

• Cubicle desks are perfect for government or private corporations' offices because there are built in shelves and cabinets to the tables.

• Multi-student computer desks are long tables that have been divided to accommodate more computers at once.

• Rolling desks are designed for laptops.

• Movable computer charts have hinges that allows it to be moved over a bed.

• Modular computer slabs are versatile and easily changed.

To make a successful purchase, consider the following things:

1. How big is your computer and its accessories?

Estimate the length of your computer table. Make sure that there is enough space to accommodate you monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and printer. If more storage space is needed, you may start looking at desks that include shelves and drawers.

2. How comfortable will you be?

Remember the reason why you want to buy computer desks in the first place: to create a comfortable workstation. A desk that is too low or too high defeats your original purpose. Pick a desk that you would help improve your productivity and not otherwise.

3. Consider your existing interior design.

You don't have to be a certified interior designer to understand the basic principles of mix and match. The material of computer table, wood, steel, glass or plywood, must fit the rest of the house's interior.

4. How much does it cost?

Accept the limitations of your budget. It is unwise to purchase computer desks that cost more than what you are prepared to pay. Know the pros and cons so that you can weigh the product's worth.

If you consider these things before you make the final purchase, you will undoubtedly make the right choice. It's easy to pick the cheapest desk available, but smart people always measure the cost against the quality and durability. After all, is it more expensive to buy cheap new computer desk every 3 years or one expensive one that lasts you 10 years?

There are many types of computer desk. One of which is the glass computer desk. Check out my other article to see what other types you have.

Finding a Small Computer Desk

When designing your home office, finding the right desk is the first step to creating the work environment you are looking for. Once you select the desk you are looking for, picking out a chair, lamp, and other office furniture is much easier. Picking your computer desk, however, is an important step that deserves some careful consideration.

How much space do you have?

Before you get too far into looking around, it is important to know how much room you have to work with. If you are designing a home office that will be tucked away into the corner of your bedroom, kitchen, living room, or other existing space, you might require a small computer desk. Measure out the space and write it down. Go check out a furniture or second-hand store and find a desk or table that meets your maximum dimensions. If the size you have selected is just too small to meet your requirements, you may need to revisit your home office layout before proceeding.

What style suits your fancy?

There are many different types of small desks to choose from. Rolltop desks and Secretary desks can work well if you are looking for a laptop desk that is easily concealed. Of course, corner desks (also called "L-Shaped desks") work well for rooms where you only have a corner to work with. Armoire desks are great for bedrooms and living rooms and some can easily conceal a PC, printer, and files. You can even repurpose a table as a "standing desk" - not ideal for working at all day, but great for those users who might spend under an hour a day at the desk and prefer being on their feet. Finally, you can find desks made out of nearly any material - wood, glass, steel, and even aluminum are used in building quality desks.

What will the desk be used for?

Often the most overlooked question in selecting a new small computer desk, you have to know exactly how the desk would be used. Will you be sitting at the desk 8 hours a day? Will you need space for a keyboard or printer? What types of storage requirements do you have? Write down your top 5 or 10 requirements for your computer desk and keep them handy as you visit stores or shop online.

What is your budget?

An obvious question, but know how much you would like to spend before you start looking. Some decent desks can be found for under $500, but you will quickly find that most high-end desks sell for well over $1000. If you are able to find a desk at a secondhand store, you might be able to get one for $500. However, desks are always in high demand so it will take some looking.

With so many different types of small computer desks to choose from, picking out the right desk can be a fun process. Just know what you want going in and you will find a desk that gives you exactly what you are looking for.

Designing a home office that fits your personal preferences is key to creating a productive work at home environment. Find a small laptop desk that fits your style. There are many places around your house that you can find space for a home office, so check out our site for a few creative ideas.

French Furniture: Is the Armoire Mightier Than the Pen?

Like French cuisine, French furniture continues to have considerable cachet. Louis XIV, Regence, Directoire, Restoration: French furniture styles down through the ages have stood the test of time, and still bring their elegance and beauty to the homes of today, either as antiques are as antique reproductions.

The evolution of furniture is a part of French history. In fact, more than that, it is French history.

Many years ago, I took a course in Earth Science. Naturally, we had a textbook. And reading assignments from the school library, which housed many volumes on the subject.

But the Professor took us on a field trip to view a shear rock cliff carved by time into a steep, striated wall that rose some twenty or more feet almost straight up from the ground.

Layer by layer, he pointed out to us what had occurred on the face of this planet over millennia. One layer showed an era when the earth was covered by the sea. Another described a time when now-extinct animals roamed the earth. The very history of the planet was inscribed in the striations of that rock.

Nothing ever written by man, not one sentence in all those volumes in all the libraries in all the world, could have conveyed the history of the earth as eloquently or as explicitly as that naked wall of rock.

So it is with French furniture.

Today, you can wander through the Court of Versailles and live again the incredible opulence that surrounded the Sun King. The intricate marquetry, the heavy carvings, the gold leaf decorations of scalloped shells, lions and, of course, rays of sun, evoke an age when aristocracy reveled in itself, and made no apology for its indulgences.

But it reflects, too, an age when the government evidenced an appreciation of the arts. The reign of Louis XIV saw the establishment of departments for architecture, painting, landscape design, and, of course, furniture making.

How different from the Medieval days when crime was rampant, and furniture was made of heavy French oak to discourage thieves! They might have been discouraged, too, by the deep hand carving done in the style of the churches and cathedrals of the day.

The Renaissance was, in its turn, influenced by the discovery of Greek and Roman antiquities. French furniture began to resemble Roman and Greek temples and coliseums complete with architectural columns and balustrades.

The influence of women, who began to gain some power with their intellectual salons during the Enlightenment, was reflected in a more feminine style of furniture, with the romance of hidden compartments and secret drawers.

After the French Revolution, the more subdued Directoire style was a visual denouncement of the flamboyance of the now-hated monarchy. And the emergence of Egyptian motifs told the story of Napoleon's bloody and ill-fated Egyptian campaign.

With the return of the monarchy in the person of Charles X came the return of unapologetic opulence. Woods were lighter, with musical instruments carved into the legs, or with marquetry flowers, garlands and rosettes.

But then, after Louis Phillipe came another revolution: the Industrial Revolution. And the wonderful handcrafted individual pieces of the past gave way to 'sets' - bedroom sets, dining room sets, and so forth - that remain staples of today.

Handcrafting. Mass production. What will follow? Whatever it may be, it will all fade into history, as must everything of this earth. And all of it will be written down, and stored on shelves in libraries. And, now, in computers. And whatever may follow computers.

But just as with that shear face of rock, no written word, however it may be preserved, will ever evoke the life of those eras past as can a massive armoire carved with the faces of angels, a dainty writing desk with its secret compartment, or bold architectural pieces adorned with sphinxes, griffins and eagles.

They are not reflections of history. They are not recordings of history. They are history itself.

Gregory Kerwin, raised in a world of antiques in his grandmother's houses in Paris and Southern France, has spent the decades since accumulating more beautiful and unusual things, still mostly French. You can find them at http://tkcollections.com/

Jewelry Armoires From Past To Present

Jewelry armoires are a variation to the big armoires that you have in your living rooms. Yes, the ones that covers up that wide screen TV when you are not using it and at the same time effectively holding you entertainment center and other gadgets. It is also a close version of the desk armoire in your study; the big closet like structure that hides the computer and all the clutter around it behind closed doors when no one is watching. Those mentioned are great examples of what an armoire is. It is a piece of furniture that is used to hold and store things that you need, but may not want to see lying around haphazardly when not in use.

The main difference between a Jewelry Armoire and those previously mentioned is the obvious fact, that instead of storing technical equipments and appliances, a Jewelry Armoire stores - well, Jewelry. This piece of furniture has been around for as long as man invented furniture. They have managed to grace the dressing rooms of the richest and most famous queens, ladies and celebrities in the past. They have truly never gone out of style and are considered as an integral part of any woman's dressing furniture.

Jewelry Armoires come in all shapes and sizes and have always been present through out history. They are made from different types of materials, but the most famous one are often wooden armoires that's stand about 4 feet high. Jewelry armoires are a great addition to your bedroom or closet furniture. It allows you storage and space without the cluttered look of an unclosed jewelry box lying on the surface of a dresser.

Armoires are manufactured in a wide array of styles, one style that is always prevalent is the baroque looking piece. Most of the armoires that are made in this style are composed of a series of shallow stacked drawers that are propped up on four cane legs. They are often made in classic woods like cherry, maple, oak and even ebony. This style of Jewelry armoire gives an approving nod towards the style of the olden days. The inevitable change in furniture style as well as the over all design of the centuries caused a change in the styles that Jewelry armoires were made; now minimalist style that sport sleek lines are also found.

Unlike their baroque counterparts, Modern styled armoires have smaller feet and are composed of stacked dresser drawers that run down the length of the armoire itself. Of course, let us not forget the whimsical and playful side to the armoire. Manufacturers have certainly not forgotten their young clients and those that are young at heart. Now, you can easily find Jewelry armoires in an array of pastel colors with some of them having whimsical fairytale book themes and characters painted on them.

No matter what style the armoire is. No matter how much jewelry it holds or where it is placed in a room. One thing is certain. The jewelry armoire has managed to secure its place in history and in the hearts of Jewelry lovers everywhere.

Selecting Proper Workplace Furniture

Every workplace needs appropriate furniture to make it a truly productive working area. After all, you and your colleagues are likely to spend a good deal of time using these furnishings. And, the wrong furniture choice is not only a waste of money but could also be pretty uncomfortable to use. So, you must practice caution when opting for workplace furniture to ensure that it's proper for your office space.

Space is one of the key aspects that needs to be taken into account ahead of buying workplace furniture. Any furnishings that you select should be easily fitted into your workplace space. Purchasing stuff that doesn't leave you enough room to walk around should be strictly avoided. There should also be enough room for you to open cabinets and drawers without suffering from space constraints.

Select furniture as per all round theme of your place of work. Don't make the error of blindly following style and looks and end up buying furniture that does not gel well with your office ambience. For example, having bean bags and cafe style chairs in a law firm makes no sense. Rather traditional furniture with oak finish is best fitted to a law firm. If your company deals in toy robots, you could consider choosing for stylish furniture having a futuristic touch.

While selecting workplace furniture, try to opt for ones which offer more utility. Multi purpose furnishings are conveniently available at most furniture markets. For instance, you will readily find tables that double as cabinets as well as computer stands that might be used as book shelves etc. These pieces of furniture are both- cost effective and allow you to stack many more items apart from the common office fare. You could even store your favorite weight loss supplement like Dietrine Carb Blocker in them.

Keeping your future needs in view is also critical when looking for office furniture. Like every other business, you too may want to grow. In case of expansion, will your existing furniture be able to serve the purpose? Take into account how well your furniture may be used in an expanded layout. You might have more girls in office, who may want to store their fave skin care products like Clear pores Skin Cleansing System along with office files.

Yet another factor of consideration is your pocket. No matter to what extent you like a particular furniture piece, you cannot think to purchase it for your office, if you do not have the right budget. Keep your budget in mind and opt for furniture which could fit the bill for you.

With the proper office furniture, not only will you be making best use of your workplace space, but will also boost your general productivity.

Here are a few more ways to know about Dietrine Carb Blocker and Clearpores Skin Cleansing System.

What Are Corner Entertainment Centers?

Lack of space is a problem common in a majority of urban homes. This particular problem gets all the more acute when you come to know that your home doesn't have adequate space for organizing your media & entertainment equipment like the TV and VCR. How do Corner Entertainment Centers Ease Space Crunch? An easy solution to the tricky problem of scarcity of space is corner entertainment centers.

If you casually look around then you will realize that all your rooms invariably have one or more unused corners.

To make optimum use of these unused corners, you should resort to corner entertainment centers. As the term suggests, these are the perfect solution for dealing with your space crunch. They provide ample storage areas for your mega media equipment.

Size and Style to Meet Every Need

There are many popular variants of branded or unbranded corner entertainment centers that are available in the market. You have the option of selecting between ready to use centers and custom made ones. Customized entertainment centers offer the benefit of matching your audiovisual needs. When going for entertainment centers, consider aspects like the size of your media equipment including TV and DVD player. Especially the size of your TV is important since if it's too heavy and big and to add to that the center you select is relatively smaller and not in proportion then it will be unable to properly hold your TV. It may thus become a safety hazard.

Entertainment centers are usually designed to hold all your regular media equipment ranging from CD/DVD players to gaming systems and books. If you regularly work from home then you may select an appropriate entertainment center which has extra space to fit your computer. Also, bear in mind that the fact that though it might take some effort and time to locate the ideal corner entertainment center, you should do so since it's a long term buy. Look for a furniture size and style to match your television set or other equipment.

Chuck is an interior decorator who has worlds of experience in interior design. Believe it or not, his expertise is in entertainment centers. If you're interested in learning all about the entertainment center world, turn to EntertainmentCenters123.com.

Types of Chests and Armoires

Aside from the bed, another major component in furnishing and decorating a bedroom is the chest of drawers and armoire. Both pieces not only serve the functional purpose of storing items, but also become decorative pieces and secondary focal points for the bedroom.

Chests

Also known as a bureau, a chest of drawers stands chest or shoulder high. Because of its height, it is not generally used with a mirror. Chests usually have five, six or seven drawers and are also used to store items of clothing not hung in a closet, such as t-shirts, socks, underwear and nightgowns.

The lingerie chest, also known as a chiffonier, is specific type of chest designed to hold lingerie and undergarments. It is generally narrower and sometimes taller than other types of chests of drawers.

Easily mistaken for a small armoire, a door chest often has a cabinet with doors and a set of drawers beneath. It is typically smaller in scale than an armoire and is 50 inches or less in height. Many manufacturers use "armoire" and "door chest" as interchangeable terms.

A storage chest resembles a large rectangular box with a lid. It is intended to store bed linens including blankets and comforters. It can also be used to store seasonal clothing. Some manufacturers offer storage chests that can also double as a bed bench.

Armoires

The word 'armoire' originates from the French world for a type of cabinet used as storage for armour and weaponry. Armoires can be used may ways, from hiding a TV set, to storing clothes and jewelry. Typically described as a tall, freestanding cupboard, armoires can include shelving, drawers and pull-out valet trays. Below are the four main types of armoires:

Wardrobe armoire: designed to hold clothes; ideal for suits, dresses and bulkier seasonal items such as overcoats. Wardrobe armoires will often have clothing bar or removable clothing rod.

TV armoire: allows you to open the doors when you want to watch television, but hide the TV away behind closed doors when you don't. Some manufacturers offer a TV/wardrobe armoire combination that can be adapted and used for either purpose.

Computer armoire: as with a TV armoire, a computer armoire allows you to put a computer in the bedroom, but hide it from view when it's not in use. A computer armoire is specifically designed to accommodate a monitor, CPU and other peripherals, such as a pair of speakers or a printer.

Jewelry armoire: a jewelry allows you to store your jewelry one place. It also offers a number of storage options intended specifically for rings, bracelets and necklaces. Jewelry armoires are available in a number of models including freestanding and wall mounted.

Remember that when selecting bedroom furniture it is important select a chest of drawers and/or an armoire that not only meets your storage needs, but also has the style and craftsmanship that reflects your taste in bedroom furniture, bedroom sets and complements the overall aesthetic and decor of the room.

Versatile Armoires

Many people look for unique pieces of furniture to complement their sense of home decor, and those shopping in any furniture store in Jefferson City, MO are no different. They want something that appeals to their personal sense of style and doesn't look like pieces everyone else owns. An armoire might be the answer to their needs, and any fine furniture store in Jefferson City, MO should carry a few styles.

Armoires have a long history. The word "armoire" is French, but comes from the Latin armarium, which means "chest" and arma, which means "tools". Originally, tools were what they held. Many countries modified these "tool chests" per local designs and styles. Staff at more than one furniture store in Jefferson City, MO may know this history. Some armoires became simple cupboards or clothespresses while others took on more elaborate characteristics such as the pieces designed by Andre-Charles Boulle, the primary cabinet maker for King Louis XIV, for use around the royal palaces. Fine furniture makers continue to design and manufacture lovely armoires today. Any furniture store in mid-Missouri might feel like a palace, but the "simple folk" are welcome to come in, browse, and buy a new armoire that appeals to them.

In addition to being beautiful, armoires are versatile pieces, and the staff of any furniture store in Jefferson City, MO can offer ideas for their use. Depending on its size and how its doors are attached, an armoire can be used in many ways. It can house computer equipment, even being modified to incorporate fold-out home offices. They can serve as entertainment centers, housing television sets plus VCRs and video collections. They can even add extra sleeping space by housing a Murphy bed, hidden away when not needed, but convenient when unexpected guests arrive. Uses abound, and the staff of any furniture store in mid-Missouri will have ideas of their own.

Many people use armoires in their dining rooms as beautiful pieces to hold their fine china and linens. They can serve as cabinets for cleaning supplies in a laundry room, too. With the addition of a few shelves, they become beautiful bookcases. Angled shelves allow them to hold wine collections. Set in an upstairs hallway, they can store bed linens and extra blankets. Crafters can use armoires to hold supplies like fabrics, threads, paints, or other art supplies. Check with your favorite furniture store in mid-Missouri to get some ideas for your home.

Of course, armoires are natural as wardrobes, as you'll discover when you brows any furniture store in mid-Missouri. Some armoires are large enough to hold as many clothes as a walk-in closet. Added shelves provide shoe storage. Mirrors mounted on the inside or outside of the doors add to their functionality.

A furniture store in Jefferson City, MO is a good place to begin your hunt for the perfect armoire for your needs. If you don't find a style that appeals to you, they may have catalogues you can browse for special ordering. Out-Of-The-Armoire Thinking

Sometimes I wish I could hire myself.

Don't get me wrong. I use the same organizing principles and techniques in my own home that I teach my clients. What I can't bring to my own situation, however, is objectivity and a fresh look.

As a result, I tend to get stuck in outmoded thinking. Here's an example.

I have owned a magnificent computer armoire for the last ten years. Originally, it was a way to keep the computer and printer and all of those wires out of sight (and safe from my then 3-year old). Now that I work at home, it is the nerve center of my business.

One of the features of this armoire is a slide-out printer shelf, just below the keyboard tray. I bought a color inkjet printer some time ago and it fit perfectly on that shelf. It was a great printer -- for its time.

I had been dissatisfied with the printer for a while now. For one thing, it was so slow. That was fine when it was only for casual weekend use. But now that I run a business and write manuals and presentations (and a 100-page e-book), it's a real liability.

The other thing that bothered me about the printer was that if I wanted to print on both sides of the page, I had to do it manually. That meant printing the odd pages, reversing the order, and putting the pages back in to print the even pages. If two pages stuck together (which happened frequently), the whole thing needed to be redone.

Needless to say, this printer was starting to cause me a lot of aggravation.

I started looking into a new printer. I discovered that there were a lot of great printers out there, and they weren't expensive. I could get a very fast color inkjet printer, with duplex printing built in. No more flipping pages!

In addition, if I got a printer that was an all-in-one, it could replace my flatbed scanner. And it would have a page feeder!

Here's the problem. The new printers were too tall to fit into that nice slide-out shelf in my computer armoire. Several times, I searched for printers on-line and then abandoned the whole thing because I didn't want to have to put my printer outside the armoire. It will ruin the look of my living room, I thought. So I forged on with my old technology.

The straw that broke the camel's back was the night that I suddenly remembered I need to copy a 30-page, two-sided document. I remembered this at 11 pm, and I needed to have it ready first thing in the morning. I stayed up until 2 am scanning it page by page on my flatbed scanner, and waiting for it to come off my slow printer.

That was it. The next day, I committed to finding a new printer. After much searching on the internet, I chose an HP Office Jet 6500 (Series 709n). I was concerned about the decorative implications, but went ahead anyway.

I've had the printer now for about a month, and I am in love. Not only does it have the features I already mentioned, it is also wireless, which means my husband and my daughter can print directly to the printer without having to use my computer to do it.

I've also redeployed the space taken up by the old printer and the scanner by bringing down to an easily accessible level things I use frequently that were higher up in the armoire. It's so much more convenient now!

As for the decorating crisis I had feared? Frankly, it's not even an issue.

Had I been one of my clients, I would have listened patiently to my litany of woes, and then said, "You need to get a new printer -- now!" I would have assuaged my fears about the decorating issue and enumerated all of the time savings that would result from the switch.

Are you making self-defeating decisions as a result of outmoded thinking? Have you been doing things the same way for so long that you can't even imagine there is a more efficient way of doing them? Take a look at places where you are bogged down and see if you can benefit from some out-of-the-armoire thinking.

Corner Computer Desks - Great For Almost Any Office

If you have been using an old table or a writing area that has not been specifically designed to be used as office space, it may be time to step up and get one of the corner computer desks on the market for the convenience it affords.

The choice of a desk will depend on the features you are looking for apart from the basic features like, CPU pedestal, pullout shelf for the keyboard, printer and monitor shelves. It is possible to purchase a traditional computer desk which is rectangular in shape and place it against the wall to create your new office area. They will basically contain compartments for CDs, bookshelves and several drawers. When you only have a small amount of space and you are attempting to squeeze a computer into say a bedroom or a living room, you will need to purchase a corner computer desk to properly manage the limited space issues.

These desks can be easily accommodated in the small space and would not be seen as an eye sore - they will blend effortlessly into the corner. If you require a greater amount of space, you should consider an L shaped computer desk that will allow you to spread out your paperwork in the additional space. The desk could be positioned to provide a clear separation between the office space and the rest of the room.

Corner computer desks also come in a U shaped design. In this model, all your office needs are within easy reach and the desk still gives you a great deal of work space to enjoy. You may not have a dedicated room to use as office space, and as a result you will only be able to use a much more public space like the dining room. Under these circumstances, the solution would be to have one of corner computer desks that could be enclosed and out of sight when not in use. A solution to that situation would be a mobile computer cart; it is pushed into a closet when not in use.

Corner computer desks also come in the form of an armoire whose doors will be left open while you are working on the desk, but they can be closed when not in used. When closed in this way you would not even be able to recognize it as a desk, it will blend perfectly with the furniture of the room and will even look like a piece of furniture itself. The large and varied selections of computer corner desks make it possible for anyone to find the ideal desk for their situation. Finishes are available in plastic, wood, metal oak and cherry.

Corner computer desks can solve a variety of limited space issues, and there is a model for every room no matter what your need is and no matter the situation. They not only have a functional contribution to make, but they can also be an appealing addition to the furniture of any home

Organize Your Entertainment Center

Entertainment centers can be used in just about any room. They're specially designed to hold televisions and stereo equipment, as well as CDs, DVDs, and other audio/video items. Because of their usefulness, entertainment centers can get cluttered very quickly. Many of today's entertainment center units have multiple drawers, slide-out shelves, and additional cabinets. With all this space, it's no wonder entertainment centers can quickly become messy and disorganized. If your entertainment center is in disarray, here are a few steps you can take to organize things better.

Step 1: Take everything out of your entertainment center

The first step is to take everything out. You need to purge your entertainment center of everything if you want to really get into it and organize everything that goes in it.

Step 2: Discard what you don't use

Discard everything that you do not use regularly. If you have purchased a movie or CD that you once liked but no longer use, burn it on a computer and dispose of the CD. Next, get rid of your old VHS tapes. Since they are outdated and they take a lot of space in your cabinet, it's better if you give them to charity. If you still want to keep some of your favorite VHS tapes, then keep the specific tapes you enjoy most and discard the rest.

Step 3: Organize your DVDs/CDs

Undoubtedly, you have a significant number of DVDs and CDs in your entertainment center. The best way to keep them organized is to keep them in some sort of order. Whether it's alphabetically, by order of use, or some other system, the best solution is to sort them in an order that makes sense to you. HINT: The best way to get your DVDs and CDs in order before you put them in the entertainment cabinet is to lay them out on the floor and organize them there. In order to do this right, you need to know precisely where they're going to go in your entertainment center and roughly how many you can store in that section. This way you can simply move your DVDs and CDs from the floor to the cabinets without much hassle.

Step 4: Remove or Reduce Knick Knacks

Entertainment centers are a great place to store and display statues, pictures, clocks, and other miscellaneous household items. However, over time, the number of knick knacks you store in your entertainment center can get out of control. So, after you take everything out, figure out which figurines, pictures, collector plates, and other items you can store elsewhere or simply have no business being there. This will help create more space as well as reduce the cluttered look of your cabinets and drawers.

Step 5: Put everything back in your entertainment center

Once you've taken everything out, thrown out what you don't use, organized your DVDs, CDs, and other items that were in your entertainment center, it's now time to put everything back. The best way to do this is to assign a specific drawer or cabinet for each item. Keep all your CDs together in one drawer and your DVDs in another. Put specific knick knacks in one area, and keep all your electronic devices together.

Follow all these steps and voila! You now have an organized entertainment center.

Possible Things To Put In An Armoire

When people think of an armoire, they usually think of something that holds their jewelry and clothing. While it's true that they can be very helpful for storing those they can be good for stashing other items as well. One is not only useful in each room but can also keep your home looking stylish and free from clutter.

If your house doesn't boast a linen closet an armoire can make a good substitute. Store your sheets, pillow cases and small blankets in one that is kept in your bedroom or in a nearby hallway. Look for one that has enough shelf space or empty area to stack your folded sheets. Armoire furniture in the bedroom can also be used for storing your accessories such as belts, handbags, neckties and shoes to keep everything within easy reach for when you wake up in the morning and get ready for the day. You may want to find one that has space for hanging items or hooks so your belts, ties and scarves can stay free of creases.

Bathrooms don't always come with a lot of extra storage space. If you can fit an armoire into your bathroom it can be used for keeping your towels and you can also line the shelves with toiletries. If you use one with drawers, your face cloths and hand towels can be stored folded in the drawers. Cosmetics can be kept either upright on the shelves or placed in the drawers.

Armoire furniture in the office can hold a multitude of things. Store your unused office supplies in it. Stack your printer paper on the shelves and put your pens in the drawers. Some armoires can even store your computer in it to help keep your office looking simple and clutter to a minimum. If you keep craft or art supplies in your office the armoire will help keep it neat and organized. You can store everything from your paint and paintbrushes to your inspirational magazines and beads in one.

If you have children, the clutter can easily get out of control if all of their items don't have place to be. By introducing a piece of armoire furniture to the bedroom, basement, or playroom, they can easily stash games, dolls and books out of sight. You may also want to store backpacks, homework supplies and other items your children need to use frequently in one. They can also be an alternative to dumping their sports equipment in the front hall or on the porch. Everything from helmets to baseball bats can be tucked safely inside and out of the way.

Children can also mean a lot of extra seasonal clothing hanging around your home. By placing armoire furniture in the entry of your home you give them a place that they can keep their coats, hats and umbrellas hidden away.

Family rooms and living rooms can also benefit from the storage armoires can offer. Often times it's hard to keep the stacks of DVDs, video games and CDs under control without a piece of furniture like an armoire to help reign them in. Depending on the size of your electronics you may want to store some of those in one to help keep them free of dust.
